CHECKMATE SOS FAQ
Here you’ll find answers to commonly asked questions regarding CHECKMATE SOS.
How does Fall detection work?
The CHECKMATE SOS device has four unique sensors within the device to
capture a fall and report it. The fall detection identification is based on proprietary algorithms and class libraries establishing individual activity profiles and learning augmentation. CHECKMATE SOS takes advantage of both the shock algorithm as well as a horizontal change algorithm, making it a very robust and
reliable solution. Over 190 different parameters, such as orientation change, impact intensity and impact speed.
Fall data is gathered from an array of sensors located on the device, including accelerometers, a magnetometer and gyroscope. Immediately after the sensors notice atypical activity, the device gathers data for up 10 seconds and sends data over cellular network to the CHECKMATE SOS cloud-based classifier for analysis.
How is the CHECKMATE SOS fall detection different than fall detection on other devices?
The CHECKMATE SOS device uses shock-determining features that represent the impact in conjunction with horizontal plane tracking to represent the motion on the user. With over 190 different parameters, such as orientation change, impact intensity and impact speed, the device is equipped to outperform competitive solutions.
How loud is the volume on the device? Is it adjustable?
The CHECKMATE SOS device has an adjustable volume setting making it flexible to the user’s needs. The default setting is programmed to utilizing 90% of the allowable range. Customizing is as easy as using the slider within the Dealer Portal or adjusting a numeric value in the Platform API.
Is the device complicated to use or set up?
The CHECKMATE SOS engineering design team has streamlined the activation process using the Dealer Portal — there are just three simple steps to activate and prepare the device for use. CHECKMATE SOS is also designed for typical end users to be able to use with little training or intervention. Connecting with ProTELEC’s Emergency Response Center takes just one push of the button.
Can CHECKMATE SOS be worn like a watch?
You can wear the CHECKMATE SOS on a waistband using the belt clip or around the neck using the lanyard. Both the belt clip and lanyard are provided in the CHECKMATE SOS kit. The CHECKMATE SOS is not currently designed to be worn as a watch.
What cell network is CHECKMATE SOS on?
The CHECKMATE SOS is on the Rogers cellular network.
Can we use another cellular provider if the Rogers Coverage is not great in our area?
CHECKMATE SOS uses only the Rogers cellular network. No other service providers will work with the device.
Will it roam if there is no coverage?
CHECKMATE SOS does allow for roaming. However, in a roaming state, you may encounter limited device capabilities and we cannot guarantee full functionality when roaming on other networks. For example, you may get voice and not data coverage, or data coverage and not voice, and the network location abilities may not work.
