Everyone has a smartphone these days and it is never out of reach. This is why CHECKMATE Mobile comes in the form of an app. You simply press and release the Emergency button and a distress signal is sent to our Emergency Monitoring Centre where trained operators will respond 24/7/365.
CHECKMATE WORKING ALONE is a proactive, automated, communication service designed to check on people working alone to ensure their safety. CHECKMATE WORKING ALONE can be set up and changed through our secure website. It will call the lone worker at predetermined intervals (such as every hour) based on a schedule that you or the worker can set up and change through our secure website. If a CHECKMATE call goes unanswered, then an alarm is received in our Emergency Monitoring Centre and our operators will begin immediate notification of your alert contacts. The check-in call takes only a few seconds to answer so that the interruption is minimal.
CHECKMATE WORKING ALONE also offers more than standard check-ins. The features of our WORKING ALONE platform provide extra precautions to ensure your employees remain safe throughout their shifts.
When selected, each CHECKMATE call will require the lone worker to leave their location details such as current location, route of travel and where they will be until the next check-in.
Should a check-in be missed, the Location Recording information will be provided to the alert contact your company provided and the lone worker will receive the aid they need. You can also view Location Recordings when they are posted to your online account. Authorized personnel can access the Location Recordings in real time.
Detailed Email Reports
A weekly summary of your account’s activity will arrive directly in your inbox, so you can stay up-to-date. You can monitor your CHECKMATE usage, ensure your staff are routinely using the service and see how effective the service actually is. These reports are generated on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis and can be helpful for your health and safety meetings, as well as workplace inspections.
This feature allows for flexibility in determining the amount of time between CHECKMATE’s first and second automated calls. Depending on the risk the employee is exposed to, you are able to choose from 2, 3 or 5-minute intervals for the automatic call-backs. This can be very efficient if your lone worker is operating heavy machinery and/or vehicles.
With the customization screen, you can manage statutory holiday, staff vacations and sick days ahead of time to avoid false alarms and lapses in coverage. Simply log in to your online account and make the necessary adjustments.
End-of-Schedule Call Option
If this feature is chosen, CHECKMATE will make a final call during the last 14 minutes of the lone workers’ shift even if the last check-in call was already made. This ensures maximum safety for your lone workers and is perfect for employees who are stationed remotely.
In the case of an emergency, lone workers can enter a 4 or 5-digit Ambush Code that is used to signal for help. Gas and convenience store workers can benefit from this feature as they are at greater risk to public violence.
With this feature enabled, CHECKMATE can call numbers with extensions.

Discreet and Effective
CHECKMATE Mobile lets an employee discreetly signal for help at any time with just the touch of a button. This may be called for in situations where the user is in a dangerous work situation or in a customer situation where they are becoming very uncomfortable or fear for their safety.
Be prepared. Where safety is a concern, for example, when walking to the car at night or being nervous about a suspicious person, simply pressing and holding the Emergency button prepares the app for an emergency. If something were to happen, releasing the Emergency button immediately generates the distress signal.
CHECKMATE Mobile works with CHECKMATE WORKING ALONE to provide the user with the option to set up regular check-in calls to ensure all is well. If the employee knows they will be working late into the night, they can set CHECKMATE WORKING ALONE to contact them at a preset schedule to ensure they are safe. Should they not respond, it would be treated as an emergency and the emergency protocol would be followed.
CHECKMATE Mobile also offers a ManDown monitoring service. The ManDown feature monitors the phone’s orientation. If it is detected that the phone is horizontal, an alarm will be generated. When the ManDown feature is activated;
- Continuous Monitoring of Inclination: Changes in the inclination of the phone are continuously monitored relative to the horizontal plane.
- ManDown State: A ManDown state is triggered if the angle of the phone is less than the pre-selected angle and stays below this threshold for at least 30 seconds.
- ManDown Alarm: For the next 30 seconds, the user can cancel the ManDown alarm by entering his password. If this password is not successfully entered within another 30 seconds from this state being initiated, a ManDown alarm is sent through to ProTELEC’s Emergency Monitoring Centre.
The pre-selected angle options;
Low – 10 degrees, Medium – 30 degrees and High – 45 degrees.
Control of the ManDown feature is done through the CHECKMATE Mobile app on the smartphone and can be turned on and off easily so that it is always there to be used when needed.

Operators are specifically trained to respond to every emergency situation through the following automatic procedures:
- Immediately calling the individual to assess the emergency or confirm it is not a false alarm. No answer is treated as an emergency.
- Notifying the individual’s alert contacts on their alert contact list and providing the exact location of the incident through our GPS tracking system. The GPS location is continuously updated until the emergency is resolved.
